Union delegates meet at the Wellington Trades Hall on 21 June 1968 to plan a protest against the government’s ‘nil general wage order’ for that year. For the first time, the Arbitration Court ordered that wage levels would remain unchanged from the previous year, despite high inflation and rising prices. Unions around the country held protests against this decision.
