Caring for cats

Caring for cats

Wendy Apps, a Wellington Cats Protection League volunteer, holds 12-year-old Miss Silver at the Brooklyn shelter in August 2008. The Wellington branch of the Cats Protection League was set up in 1982 to rescue abandoned or neglected cats and kittens, and find new homes for them. A purpose-built shelter was opened in 2007, and volunteers help care for the cats, some of which have medical and behavioural problems. Soon after this photograph was taken, a new home was found for Miss Silver.
