The English tradition of the hunt, where horses, riders and a pack of hounds chase a fox across the countryside, was transferred to New Zealand. Here, a hare substitutes for the fox, but the rest of the hunt protocol is similar. The hunt master wears a red jacket and directs the hunt. This hunt was organised by the Otago Hunt Club.
