Grain silo

On farms that grow grains such as wheat, barley and oats, the harvested grain is stored in round silos. This one is on a mixed cropping farm near Carew in South Canterbury. The farmer is climbing up to tie down the cap on the roof, which had been opened to fill the silo with grain using an augur.
