Raised-board shearing shed

Raised-board shearing shed

The woolshed at Hāwea station in Otago is modern-style. The raised board where the shearers operate allows the wool handlers to pick up the fleeces without too much bending. It also keeps the shearers well away from those sorting the wool and pressing it into bales.
