Stock truck and stock drover

Stock truck and stock drover

Two methods of moving stock – a sheep truck, and a mob of sheep driven ‘on the hoof’ – meet on the East Coast of the North Island, around the late 1940s. The truck driver is struggling to make his way through the sheep, which are being driven along a very narrow fenced road. Part of a portable loading ramp hangs on the side of the vehicle’s stock crate. Until the early 1980s stock trucks used to carry loading ramps – now all farms must have their own.
