Green vegetable bug

Green vegetable bug

This adult green vegetable bug is about 15 millimetres long and 8 millimetres wide. The line of three small spots above its wing case distinguishes it from the native green bug. This pest sucks the sap from the soft tissue of a wide range of plants and is a major pest of maize crops, where it causes the kernels of corn to shrivel on the plants.
