Break feeding oats

Break feeding oats

Oats are often sown in the autumn, after a summer crop, to provide feed for sheep in winter. Here sheep are being break-fed on oats behind an electric fence. Having a large number of sheep in one area returns more nutrients to the soil in the form of dung and urine, which is beneficial for the next crop.
