Cat and kittens (2 o 4)

Cat and kittens

A Māori woman holds a cat while its kittens play on her dress, around 1909. Domestic animals such as cats were introduced by Europeans in the late 1700s but there is little evidence of them establishing feral populations before the 1830s. Many common animals had already been introduced by settlers well before acclimatisation societies were set up in the 1860s.
