Farmers unloading grain

Farmers unload bags of grain from wagons at the Otamita railway siding, north of Gore, in Southland. Grain was bought and sold through the grain and seed division of stock firms. In the late 19th century it was a considerable part of their business in the South Island.

I worked at the CFCA for several years straight out of school and enjoyed it immensely. Best tea rooms in Timaru. And what wasn’t sold by end of day was given away to staff. It would be awesome to have a reunion of the staff before it’s too late , if anyone is keen to help organise a reunion please get in touch Andrew McPhedran ex Soft Furnishings and Furniture Departments. 0266853782
