Santa Gertrudis bull (3 o 3)

Santa Gertrudis bull

The Santa Gertrudis was bred in Texas from a cross between the Brahman and Shorthorn. The Brahman influence can be seen in this bull’s hump immediately before the shoulders, and in his unbroken dewlap (the fleshy skin running from his jaw to his chest). The Brahman was used in the cross to develop a breed that would perform well in hot, dry conditions.
