Native to Australia, the common brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) is a cat-sized marsupial, with thick fur, long bushy tail, a pointed snout and long claws. Possums are nocturnal tree-dwellers. They shelter in dark hollows during the day and emerge soon after dusk to begin feeding, mainly on plant material.
