In hill country cattle improve the quality of the grazing for sheep. Cattle trample weeds and open up rough pasture. They do not compete for the same feed as sheep, but eat rough long grass that sheep will not graze. At the same time, they eat the eggs and larvae of intestinal parasites that affect sheep.
