Kōkako recovery

Kōkako recovery

In 1994 the Department of Conservation and Auckland Regional Council initiated the Hūnua Kōkako Project to reintroduce the endangered bird to the Hūnua Ranges. By 2018 there were more than 200 kōkako in the ranges. These volunteers carry nesting boxes.
