Deer yard

Deer yard

There is no single standard design for deer yards. However they should have certain characteristics to make deer comfortable and enable them to be handled easily. The yard walls should be solid so that deer cannot see outside activity, and the central yard area should be darkened to pacify the animals. A small circular yard or crush, with several doors leading to separate small pens, divided by two swinging gates to allow deer to be moved around, works very well.
