Wapiti petition

Wapiti petition

Carol Quirk (left), private secretary for Wellington Central MP Ken Comber, accepts a petition from 53,811 members of the New Zealand Deerstalkers’ Association in the 1970s. They were concerned about government programmes to shoot deer from helicopters and recover live deer for farming, which were reducing wapiti numbers.
