This plaque is a monument to the boundary dogs that were once used to prevent sheep escaping from one station to another. Sited at the intersection of State Highway 8 and the Haldon Road, near Burkes Pass in South Canterbury, it reads: ‘In early times before these roads were fenced, a boundary dog was kennelled here to hold back station sheep’.
