Sandfly bites

Ankles are a favourite target – probably because they are often exposed and relatively hairless, so that the skin is easy to get at. Reactions to the bites vary, and those bitten for the first time may react strongly. It is best to soothe the itching with a cream such as calamine lotion, as scratching makes the bites worse.
