The alpine shrublands on Mt Stokes in the Marlborough Sounds consist of an open shrubland of Coprosma tayloriae and mountain flax (foreground), backed by leatherwood scrub of tūpari (Olearia colensoi). Behind the shrublands grow silver beech forest.
