Kōrero: Tall broadleaf trees

Kermadec pōhutukawa

Kermadec pōhutukawa

Kermadec pōhutukawa are naturally confined to the Kermadec Islands, where they are the main forest tree. They have been widely planted around the coast on mainland New Zealand. Kermadec pōhutukawa look like mainland pōhutukawa, but have smaller, rounder leaves. They flower lightly throughout the year, whereas mainland pōhutukawa only flower in late spring and summer.
