Poa matthewsii

<em>Poa matthewsii</em>

This is the small endemic grass Poa matthewsii, growing under kānuka on Otago Peninsula. It occurs in lowland to mountainous open forests, along river banks and near the coast. The inset shows its seed heads. Poa is a large genus of grasses with many species occurring in a range of habitats.
