Solomon Islanders, such as Batram Suri (pictured in 1998), have added flair to New Zealand’s football scene. Batram Suri made a big impression by scoring numerous goals for the Nelson Suburbs club. Although the most obvious Pacific Island sports presence in New Zealand is on netball courts and rugby or rugby league fields, in many parts of the Pacific football is the game of choice.
