Toatoa

Slightly smaller and less common than tānekaha, toatoa is a similar-looking tree that grows in the northern half of the North Island. It can be distinguished from tānekaha by its larger, thicker, and more rounded phylloclades (sections of flattened stem that carry out photosynthesis).
