Anthropic soils are constructed by people. They occur in small areas, usually beside or in urban areas where housing development, engineering works or rubbish landfills have been completed. In rural areas they are formed where there has been surface mining and the soil cover has been replaced. Anthropic soils have no common characteristics. This site was formerly a quarry and has been covered with topsoil in preparation for a new housing development.
