Forest canopy

Forest canopy

Olive-green crowns of rimu (Dacrydium cupressinum) and a dark green pukatea (Laurelia novae-zelandiae) tower above the lighter green broadleaved canopy. Epiphytes and vines festoon the trunks of the emergent trees. Tree ferns flourish where there are gaps in the canopy.
