This newly emerged nymph of the common tea-tree stick insect is a tiny version of its parents. Many of New Zealand’s stick insect species have green nymphs, some with a dark red dorsal stripe. In contrast, the nymph of the bristly stick insect is brown with distinct white-banded legs.
