Wellington’s Hungarian community

Image
Wellington’s Hungarian community

By the 1990s Hungarian organisations which had declined in the 1970s were once again active in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. In 1993 the mayor of Wellington, Fran Wilde (left), joined members of the city’s Hungarian community to view an exhibition. The Hungarian consul, Paul Szentirmay, is beside the mayor, and the president of the Hungarian Society of Wellington, Lajos Berecz, is on the right.
