The Rauner brothers

The Rauner brothers – from left, Edward, George, Tony, Jo and Adam – pose with the tools of their trade. The mighty forests of Pūhoi soon rang with the sound of axes as men carved farms from the bush. In the early years of the settlement, women worked alongside their husbands, felling and milling timber.
