Louise Fuller adjusts a folding chair frame at Nelson's NW Designs workshop in 2011. Fuller had migrated to Nelson from England in 2006 to follow her dream of becoming a bespoke (custom-made) furniture maker. In 2008 she did a furniture internship at Nelson's Centre for Woodworking, which led to her job designing and making furniture for NW Designs. She thought New Zealand was more open-minded about women working in the industry than England, but the market for bespoke furniture was much smaller.
