I heard the Kookaburra first and went down the back of my farm out the back of swanson. There the kookaburra jumped about 15 meters in front of me,off the grass and apon a branch.. Was great to see for i was still buzzing from seeing the flock of cockatoos a few days befor.I havnt been here for a year yet but it is as equal to living next to the sea. lovn it.

I heard a Kookaburra about a week ago and was very surprised, he has been around since then, saw him in the tree right outside our window this morning and he was making a different sound to his usual very loud call. We live on the hill in the Coatesville area. Amazing birds, hope he stays around for a while.

You would have. I get odd looks too when I mention they are in the area I live in around rural Swanson. Not many of them but a delight to see and hear. Amazing considering so few people seem to know.

Am sure I saw a Kookaburra on the overhead wires on the outskirts of Matakana, heading towards Tawharanui. Was given a hard time for believing I saw a Kookaburra so was rapt to find details on your website!
