    This is the site of the Earthquake Commission, which is the major provider of natural-hazard insurance to owners of residential property.

    This site provides real-time monitoring of New Zealand earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides and tsunamis.

  • Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management

    This site describes the work of the ministry and the National Civil Defence Emergency Management Plan.

  • Tectonic and earthquake risk zoning

    This paper was the first attempt to show that some parts of New Zealand are more susceptible to earthquakes than others, based largely on geological evidence. It was published in the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand (1965).
