One of the most innovative and influential records made in New Zealand, Te kū te whē was first released in 1994. It consisted of songs and music by Hirini Melbourne, accompanied by Richard Nunns on taonga puoro (traditional Māori instruments). Te kū te whē was recorded and produced by Steve Garden at Progressive Music Studio, and released on Rattle Records. This is the cover for that record, with artwork by Ideaology and Tim Gummer Design. Te kū te whē reached gold-record status in 2002. To mark its significance and celebrate Rattle's 25th anniversary, the album was remixed and remastered at the Garden Shed studio, and re-released in 2011.
