Oriori for Ahuahukiterangi

This oriori (song for a child) was composed by Hinekitawhiti for her mokopuna (granddaughter), Ahuahukiterangi, who lived at Ariuru in Tokomaru. The song tells Ahuahukiterangi to call on her relatives, from Tokomaru Bay (pictured) up the coast to Raukōkore in the Bay of Plenty. This section of the waiata recounts some of the things that signify that Ahuahukiterangi comes from Ariuru.
