
This map shows the variation in concentration (as opposed to absolute numbers) of Māori in Northland districts, and the towns within those districts. There are much higher proportions of Māori in the north and centre of the region than in the south or the Bay of Islands. This reflections both historical settlement and recent employment patterns.
