Kōrero: Castaways

Shipwreck sites, Auckland Islands

This map shows the sites of six of the seven shipwrecks with castaways on the Auckland Islands. Click on the names, or the shipwreck icons, to see the sites or the huts of the survivors of the Grafton, Invercauld, General Grant, Derry Castle, Anjou and Dundonald. The seventh wreck was the Compadre. On a voyage from India to Chile in March 1891, it caught fire and was steered onto the rocks to save lives. Only one crew member died.
