Birthplaces of New Zealand Chinese, 2001 and 2013

This chart shows the birthplaces of those residents who declared their ethnicity to be Chinese in the 2001 and 2013 New Zealand censuses. In both, most were not born in New Zealand. In 2013 over half were born in China, compared to just over one-third in 2001. Separate figures for Malaysian-born Chinese were not available in 2001.
