Robert Steele used the naked, gold-painted bodies of dancer Freda Stark, Harold Robinson and another unidentified man to experiment with low-key lighting, and choreographed this stylised adagio. Adagio is a form of partner dance or acrobatics involving a sequence of movements and poses where one person (the base) lifts and tosses the other (the flier).
