Kōrero: Composers

Phil Dadson and From Scratch

Musician and visual artist Phil Dadson first came to notice with his percussion group, From Scratch. This From Scratch composition, Pacific 3-2-1-Zero, was devised by Dadson, Wayne Laird and Don McGlashan in 1981, as a protest against American, French and British nuclear testing in the Pacific. Dadson is the first person to vocalise; the other performers are Wayne Laird and James McCarthy. This film of Pacific 3-2-1-Zero won the Grand Prix at Midem's Visual Music Awards in 1994.
