Kōrero: Sculpture and installation art

Michael Parekowhai at the Venice Biennale (1 o 2)

Michael Parekowhai's artworks are informed by his Māori and European heritage and often have a bicultural perspective, such as the major work chosen to represent New Zealand at the Venice Biennale in 2011. Here gallery director Jenny Harper introduces 'On first looking into Chapman's Homer', an installation that alludes, with Parekowhai's characteristic wit and showmanship, to a poem of the same name by 19th century romantic poet John Keats.
