Janet Frame was a frequent traveller overseas and many of her novels and short-story collections were wholly or partly written in foreign countries. Travel allowed Frame a kind of creative freedom and independence she struggled to find in New Zealand. This diagram shows where her novels and collections of short fiction were written. Frame worked on some books in various locations as she travelled to and fro. It is not known where she wrote You are now entering the human heart and Gorse is not people.
