The rise of the DJ changed the notion of live music in clubs. By the 1990s a headline act in a club was more likely to play a turntable than a musical instrument. The Upbeats' ‘Carousel ft kemo’ music video includes footage from a Christchurch club, Ministry, in the 2000s.
