Blenheim, Picton and Kaikōura are the most sizeable towns in Marlborough. None was very large before the Second World War. After that, Blenheim outstripped the others on account of its central position, the establishment of the Woodbourne airfield and the development of manufacturing and service industries. In 2013 over half of Marlborough’s population lived in Blenheim.
