Starting in 1889, several successive Māori-language translations of the Book of Mormon, the sacred text of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon Church), were published in New Zealand. This edition, from about 1950, has a cover illustration of a pre-European-settlement battle, and a heading urging Māori to be watchful against their enemies.
