Politicians’ names

Places named for colonial politicians seemed to survive in inverse proportion to their namesake’s political success. Gisborne, an important public servant but not an influential colonial politician, is remembered by a city. But the fate of Vogel and Seddon, both major figures, is to be remembered by obscure suburbs or minor country towns.
