Roll over icons for information

From the 1960s, the Mackenzie Basin became New Zealand’s most important supplier of hydroelectricity. Lakes Tekapo and Pūkaki now hold about 50% of the country’s hydroelectric storage. This map shows the completion date and capacity of the eight power stations in the Waitaki River catchment.
