At first, New Zealanders were slow to shift from dial-up to broadband internet connection. This chart compares New Zealand internet connections to those of a range of other countries in 2005. By 2008 the picture was changing rapidly, as many New Zealanders changed to broadband connection. Government support for broadband announced in 2009 meant that this shift was likely to continue gathering speed.
