Timber exports and total output, 1890–1920

Timber was exported from New Zealand from the early days of settlement, but by the late 19th century it was not a major export in terms of value. Most timber was used within New Zealand. The quantity sent overseas between 1890 and 1920 did not exceed a quarter of total production. By 1915, native timber was supplemented by exotic timber from plantations.
