Stebbing record sleeve

Stebbing record sleeve

Records were released for sale encased in printed cardboard sleeves, to protect them from scratches and to promote the contents. This sleeve was used in the late 1940s and 1950s for records produced by Auckland's Stebbing Studios. Each new record was sold in an identical sleeve, and the hole cut in the centre of the sleeve revealed the circular label of the record itself. Later, unique and colorfully printed sleeves, without centre holes, were produced for every new recording.
