Commonwealth Games bowls poster, 1974

The Commonwealth Games have been important in raising the public profile of bowls in New Zealand. Men's bowls have been part of the games since 1930, but women's bowls were not until 1982. At the 1974 games New Zealand won a gold in the men's fours and a bronze in the pairs.
