This advertisement for the oral contraceptive pill was placed in Choice magazine in February 1972. It emphasises that it is every woman's right to decide when she has had enough children. The pill gave women real control over their fertility for the first time. Before its introduction, contraceptive options were largely unreliable. In 2009 around 200,000 New Zealand women were estimated to be using oral contraceptives.
